About "Treasure Chest" cart system for MODx
TreasureChest is an easy to use eCommerce system for MODx CMS/F. It is a 100% MODx native shopping cart, product manager, inventory manager, shipping assistant, and sales tracking solution which uses PayPal Website Payments Standard for payment processing.
What it is:
It is an integration for PayPal Website Payments Standard which allows you to have a catalog of items at your MODx site... it lets your visitors look around and add/remove items at any time without leaving your MODx site, then when they are ready to check out, they temporarily leave your site to have their payment processed securely at the PayPal website. If you want, your customers will be returned back to your site after their payment is complete.
This is a nice solution for smaller businesses or a small online presence that can't realistically justify the cost of a merchant account, payment gateway, SSL certificate, and a dedicated server for securely storing and processing payment info.
It is incredibly customizable through the use of CSS and MODx chunks.
Each item in your catalog is displayed using a MODx document, therefore you also get the freebie of the power of AJAX Search for letting your customers find exactly what they are looking for. Also, being MODx document based, you can use Ditto and it's powerful tag system to add "categories" to your products!
What it is NOT:
TreasureChest is not ideally suited for a company with more than a few hundred products. In fact, after a few hundred, the manager is going to be a bit unwieldy. It is probably not going to be flexible enough for the LARGE business with their own merchant account, payment gateway, and SSL certificate who wants to use a payment system other than PayPal.
